I had the pleasure of staying at a charming chateau in Sauveterre recently and it was truly a delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I had stepped into a fairytale. The ambiance and vintage charm of the accommodations exceeded my expectations. The family room I stayed in was spacious, elegant, and impeccably clean. I loved waking up to the beautiful views from the terrace while enjoying a delicious breakfast. The pool provided a refreshing escape from the heat and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The peaceful surroundings and complimentary water added to the overall tranquility of the environment.
There was one small inconvenience during my stay, as there were some nearby construction works that started early in the morning. However, this was a minor setback in an otherwise perfect experience.

The property is quite stunning and located near Chateauneuf du Pape. Sauveterre is a small village with little other than a boulangere, a bar and a an Italian restaurant. The property is part of the Chateaux and Hotels Collection and promised a lot (on that site and the propertiy's own site). The rooms are nicely presented (at least the superior room we were allocated offered a nice view, air-con, modern bathroom and comfortable bed). the room was in my pinion relatively small compared to similar properties we have reviewed on this trip to France for same or less money, and for the room rate at €198.00 was expensive excluding continental breakfast - offered at €19 per person, which we felt was significantly overpriced (we did not partake at that rate) choosing a coffee and croissant in a nearby village). We have travelled extensively all over the world, and extensively in Europe and France over many years, staying in B&B's, Chambre d'Hotes, private Chateuax and 5 star hotels. Somehow this property seemed to miss the mark for our stay... If the Chateaux and Hotels of France group rates this property highly - something is missing! Other comments: WiFi is free and available - we found it a little intermittent - sometimes it worked and other times it did not. Usually it came back, but the intermittent operation was a little frustrating at times. Parking is some distance from the accommodations (a the foot of the gardens) but is in a secure area. There is the opportunity to drive behind the chateau and drop one's bags toa rear door before returning the car to the car-park. a 5 minute walk from the cat[ark to the accommodations. The 'salon' sitting areas of the property are nicely furnished and welcoming, in keeping with the tasteful decoration throughout the property generally.
Other reviewers of this property rated it highly - we felt to receive a better review a few things were missing from our experience.... (a) On arrival, there was no introduction to the local area, map of the area etc. When we inquired as to dinner possibilities, we were advised there was a restaurant in the village! (b) Being in the Cote du Rhone area - there must be a number of good restaurants nearby, but unfortunately we were left to our own devices to identify these. A perusal of the 'local' restaurant in the village indicated it was very ordinary! This is France after all - food is important and there must be excellent restaurants nearby! (c) In essence we did not see the hosts/owners during our 2 day stay apart from check-in/out. I'm sure they are charming people, but we were unable to make that judgment! We felt the accommodations are overpriced and should have included continental breakfast at that rate (note the Booked.net site refers to this property ad a Bed and Breakfast, and other sites refer to it as a a hotel). It would seem neither based on our experience! If one wanted a coffee or tea during one's stay - it would seem the only option would be the bar in the village!
